Its applications are primarily in coatings, adhesives, electrical laminates and composites for its excellent adhesion, strength and chemical resistance.

The typical arrangement of production equipment is batch reactor with agitator, where all the reactants and catalyst are allowed to react. The generated vapors are directed to the condenser and liquid is returned back to the reactor. The heating and cooling arrangement of the reactor is an integral part.

According to the required product quality, the type and amount of catalysts and reactants are varied. The chlorine has to be removed by “washing” of resin as its presence is detrimental for electrical properties of resin.
